The Grand Master Fra’ John Dunlap today held the traditional New Year audience with the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The audience took place at the Villa Magistrale in Rome. Following the address by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Ambassador Antoine Zanga of Cameroon, the Grand Master delivered his speech, recalling the breadth of the Order of Malta’s diplomatic and humanitarian engagement worldwide.

Ceremony of New Year Greetings from the Diplomatic Corps to the Holy Father
The Holy Father received at the Vatican, for the traditional New Year greetings, the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See. In his address, the Pope addressed the major global challenges: the increase in the persecution of Christians; the threat to freedom of expression posed by an increasingly fluid use of language that ultimately leads to exclusion; and the importance of humanitarian law, despite wars and violence that threaten peace and the shared sense of humanity.

A good man in the quiet service of the Church, the Order of Malta, family, and beauty.
On Monday, December 1st, after a brief and cruel illness, H.S.H. Prince Alessandrojacopo Dragone Boncompagni Ludovisi Altemps passed away. He was Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Holy See, and bore the surnames of two families that had given the Church two Popes and a significant number of Cardinals.

“Meeting with Diplomat” – The Ambassador meets the LUISS students
Ambassador Antonio Zanardi Landi welcomed a group of students from LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome, opening the doors of the Embassy for a meeting with young people interested in the world of diplomacy and International Affairs, as well as in learning more about the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and its humanitarian diplomacy.

Jubilee of the Poor.
On Sunday, 16 November, after the Holy Mass for the World Day of the Poor, the Holy Father met with 1,440 pilgrims from the French association “Fratello,” which brought to Rome, for the Jubilee Year, numerous faithful belonging to the most vulnerable groups of society.
