The Holy Father received at the Vatican, for the traditional New Year greetings, the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See.
In his address, the Pope addressed the major global challenges: the increase in the persecution of Christians; the threat to freedom of expression posed by an increasingly fluid use of language that ultimately leads to exclusion; and the importance of humanitarian law, despite wars and violence that threaten peace and the shared sense of humanity. He urged States to strengthen multilateralism, respect for fundamental rights—including freedom of religion and expression—and international cooperation as essential tools for building a just and lasting peace.
The Embassy of the Order to the Holy See was represented by the Ambassador, together with his Consort and the Members of the Diplomatic Corps.
