Ambassador Antonio Zanardi Landi was asked to comment, from within the halls of the Quirinale Palace, on the historic visit of the Holy Father to President Mattarella on October 14, 2025.
An encounter marking the twelfth visit of a Pontiff to the Quirinale, it addressed a broad range of topics centered on an appeal for Peace.
Justice, fairness, cooperation among peoples, multilateralism, support for families, and care for creation were among the main themes discussed by His Holiness and the President of the Republic in their respective speeches delivered in the Quirinale’s Salone delle Feste.
In a world marked by numerous and profound crises, the Church’s role as a moral guide inevitably converges with the realm of politics. “Only a Pope born in Chicago, who has served and been loved in Peru, and whose religious roots lie in the Algerian cities of Tagaste and Hippo, could face a struggle that appears superhuman,” commented the Ambassador.
