There were over fifty thousand faithful of all nationalities gathered in St. Peter's Square for the last farewell to the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, and among the authorities in the front row before the papal canopy there was the Lieutenant Grand Master, Fra' John Dunlap, the Grand Chancellor, Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo, the Grand Hospitaller, Fra' Alessandro de Franciscis, the Receiver of the Common Treasure, Fabrizio Colonna, Fra' Roberto Viazzo, Member of the Sovereign Council and the Member of the Sovereign Council and Ambassador of the Order of Malta to the Holy See, Antonio Zanardi Landi.
On the afternoon of 5 December, at the Pontifical Oriental Institute, a conference was held on the theme "Protecting sacred places of the Mediterranean-Follow-up of the Project. "
Cardinal Zuppi, President of the Italian Episcopal Conference and Metropolitan Archbishop of Bologna, was admitted to the Order of Malta with the dignity and rank of Bailiff Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion
Ambassador Zanardi Landi was invited to the 2022 Annual Investiture Weekend of the Federal Association, held in Washington, DC.
On the occasion of the Canonization of Giovanni Battista Scalabrini, Ambassador Zanardi Landi accepted to host an event at Palazzo Orsini requested by the Superior General of the Scalabrinians, aimed at reflecting on and enhancing the synergies of the activities in favour of migrants, poor and far from home, conducted by both the Order and the Congregation
After the sudden death of Frà Marco Luzzago, the annual receptions of the Embassies to the Holy See and to the Quirinale took place, this year on September 27th, jointly in the presence of H.E. the Lieutenant of the Grand Master Frà John Dunlap
With the Papal Decree of 3 September 2022, dissolving the current Sovereign Council and constituting a new, provisional one, Ambassador Zanardi Landi is nominated as a Member of the Sovereign Council.
