On June 23rd 2022, the Magistral Post of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta issued 5 stamps, belonging to the series “THE DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIONS OF THE ORDER” dedicated to Palazzo Orsini, the headquarters of the Embassy to the Holy See.
The 5 rooms of Casa Litta-Palazzo Orsini depicted are: the Green Salon with the Borghese table, made by Alessandro Algardi in 1634-1635 for Prince Marcantonio Borghese using a rare jasper slab inherited from Cardinal Scipione Borghese and completed in 1773 by Luigi Valadier; the Yellow Salon, with the table made in the 17th century using a hard stone and marble top, the two tapestries by Jan Raes II from the early 17th century and, finally, the 17th-century white marble bust depicting Francesco I d’Este, Duke of Modena, from the workshop of Gian Lorenzo Bernini ; the Dining Room with one of the six Grotesque tapestries made in France, in the Beauvais manufactory, between 1690 and around 1711; a picture of the two Venetian school frescoes in the gallery on the terrace level; the chalcographic print ‘Teatro di Marcello’ depicting a view of Palazzo Orsini in the 17th century made by Giovanni Battista Piranesi and part of the ‘Views of Rome’ series.
